A lot of things have happened
in the past few months. Once Blind is back and
ready to go wherever the Lord leads us. This
past Friday, June 13th, we had the privilege
of playing at a men's retreat for Heritage
Fellowship Church in Oak Ridge. The men's
group is called the Band of Brothers, and they
meet on Wednesday evening at the church. This
retreat was the best retreat that I have ever had
the privilege to attend. God's presence was so
amazing and His loving hand touched each and
every person that was there on both nights.
Revival has begun in the hearts of each and every
man that was present. Once Blind had the
privilege of sharing our experiences, trials, and
victories through our music as well as our
testimonies. We had a wonderful time and all
I can say is that God is truly amazing, and Jesus
Christ is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
It was truly a life-changing experience for all.
Once Blind has a couple of dates coming up in July
also. We will be playing at the Anderson County
Fair in Clinton, TN on Monday, July 14th, at
7:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. We will also be playing
at the fair on Wednesday, July 16th, at 7:00 p.m.
and 8:00 p.m. We invite you to come out and be
with us on those two evenings if you can. Well,
its been fun chatting with you and it's time to sign
off, but we want you to know this one thing. Jesus
loves you and so do we. Always keep the Lord first
in everything you do and say, and He will guide your
steps no matter where you go. We love you and
hope to see you soon.

God Bless,

Billy and Once Blind

A Note About The Blues

David, the Bluesman

I am often asked about the "apparent" oxymoron in the phrase "Christian Blues". Do people of faith sometimes doubt? Do those whose lives are based on hope experience despair? Does the believer who follows this God who refers to Himself as Love Incarnate feel pain? Do bad things happen to them? Are they immune to trial, sorrow and struggle?

If one thinks and relates to honest life experiences, no matter how much faith, hope and love God has given us, the answer to the above questions are "Yes, " The world as we have it, is fallen. Sin is present. The possibility for both sin and righteous living under Jesus are always available to us all. Beyond sin, people also make mistakes. I think there is no escape from the fact that Christian or not, certainly the blues experience whether musical or social can be and is shared by all.

The bible tells us that Jesus was "a man of sorrows, well-acquainted with grief". (Isaiah 53:3)

Disarming, isn't it?

David, writer of most of the psalms remains my favorite. True, he was a sinner. He was courageous, stupid, a leader, a friend, lustful goof, a man after God's heart, shepherd, biblical bluesman, worshipper, serious about God being honored first. David the Bluesman, what a guy!

                                                                 Glenn Kaiser 2001
